As a followup to my last blog about Hilton Head Airpot, one of our best community assets. I read an interesting article recenly in the Island Packet,  www.islandpacket.com/  that related some positive stats for this past summer.  The airport experiences the businest summer since 1999 this year with over 93,000 passengers flying into and out of our airpot between April and August, our peak summer season.  Last yearthe amount of flyers stood at 61,643.  This years increase is due to Delta Air Lines providing non stop service from Atlanta.  Originally Delta had planned this to be a summer season only option but they now have decided to provide year round service, a decision that is sure to please many who commute from Atlanta to the island.

Delta joined US Airways which was the only commercial carrier in service here on the island since 1995.  It's nice for out residents and visitors to now have a choice in carriers.  Visit the airport website for additinal information:  http://www.hiltonheadairport.com/

Some of you may know that our local airport is near and dear to my heart, having come from a family of aviation enthusiasts, both commercial and pleasure pilots.  So from time to time, I enjoy blogging about that which I have a sincere interest in.  

When you are considering a jaunt to the island for pleasure or to find your perfect island home, I do hope you consider flying into our wonderful community resource---5 minutes later, you'll be home and already relaxing.

As more and more folks contemplate a move to our beautiful island of Hilton Head, many are considering a total career change.  I think you'll find that with a little bit of ingenuity, Hlton Head can be a excellent community in which to forge ahead with a new endeavor.

But first you'll need to know a bit about the intricacies of legally getting started:  First check out the official website for Hilton Head:  http://www.hiltonheadislandsc.gov/

• Initially,  you'll need to submit a business license application to the license clerk at the Town Business License Division of Town Hall, 1 Town Center Court.  The telephone number is 843-341-4600
• Hilton Head will require each business owner to pay an annual license fee.
• For assistance with meeting additional requirements, an excellent resource is the Hilton Head/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce Business Assistance Center.   You can reach them at 843-785-3673.
